TRUMP STUMPED BY CLOCK

TRUMP STUMPED BY CLOCK

JUDD TRUMP was in the unusual position of being taken off a frame early after his first round match with Tom Ford at the Dafabet World Championship turned into a go-slow at the Crucible on Tuesday.

Trump returns for the final session on Wednesday morning with a 6-2 lead with only eight of the nine scheduled frames played. The players were brought off to avoid the match running into the evening session.

Trump, who reached the world final in 2011, won two frames on the black and will need four more frames when they resume on Wednesday to reach the last 16.

Barry Hawkins, runner-up to Ronnie O’Sullivan last year, ended his first session against Dave Gilbert with a 5-4 lead.

Gilbert, making his third Crucible appearance, led 2-0 and 3-1 but Hawkins made breaks of 72, 72 and 115 to secure an overnight lead.
