Ronnie O’Sullivan and son Ronnie Junior happily suffered no serious injuries but were reportedly badly shaken after a car accident on the way home from Sheffield.
O’Sullivan was heading south on the M1 close to Leicester following his Dafabet World Championship 18-14 final defeat to Mark Selby on Monday night.
It is understood O’Sullivan’s car hit surface water in poor driving conditions and hit the central reservation - but both driver and his six-year-old passenger were able to get out and walk away from the badly damaged Audi R8 vehicle.
The accident is believed to have taken place close to Junction 21 at around 1.30am.
O’Sullivan had put in only the briefest of appearances at the after-final party to show respect to Selby before heading south towards his home in Chigwell, Essex.
